Here at TheBibleAppProject.org, we are more than just mobile apps. We're a site where people can come and get some exclusive content and also belong to a community of believers.
In Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 the Bible tells us, “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”
Community is very important for believers. We need each other to help when we are discouraged or downtrodden. We need to provide each other strength and share our lives with one another.
1 Thessalonians 5:14 says, “And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all.
We are all human with our own faults and failures. We can comfort, encourage and become more steadfast in our walk as we grow together in Christ. Some days we get up so excited about the upcoming hours that we can really show the joy of the Lord by coming alongside others.
As I have heard and also learned by experience – helping others becomes your blessing. If you are trying to help someone and they are having a hard time accepting help, just tell them, “Please, don't steal my blessing.” This is a true statement and also allows them to accept help. We are such a prideful people we find it hard to accept others help sometimes.
For example one of our neighbors is going through chemo treatments. We know them but have never visited over the years except at the mailbox. We decided to watch for her car to be home (the days she is too tired to stay at work) and offer on those days to feed them and their boys supper. Once we asked them not to steal our blessing, we have been able to minister to them without them feeling any guilt over our help.
This week, on a good day, she provided us with a homemade apple pie that was simply delicious. Because of becoming part of their community and getting involved, we now are sharing a closer relationship with them and both families are blessed.
Here, in our presence, if you are feeling unneeded or in need, I hope you will find community to pray with and for, to share joys and sorrows, to help others to deepen their faith in Christ as we become community. The book of Philippians is all about JOY; Focus on Jesus, then others, then you. Community. Take a few minutes to read over that book of the Bible and be encouraged. Then come prepared to encourage others!
